“Hence, short-term traders can look for buying opportunities in the stock in the range of Rs 2,520-2,500 for potential targets of Rs 2650 and Rs 2,750,he said.

Kck-start the day, featuring Maruti and Mahindra run into fix:

 Maruti, Mahindra under I-T lens; India Inc’s credit health; and Adani Wind’s global ambition.
 
The Indian automotive industry has come under heavy scrutiny of the income tax department. This year, penalties have been imposed on both Maruti and Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M).

They faced a penalty of over INR14.3 lakh for incorrect input-tax credit availed during the transition from excise duty to GST. 

Prajyot Sathe, research manager-mobility at Frost and Sullivan India says auto-component companies have also been at the receiving end from the tax authorities .
 

Most of these penalties enforced on automotive firms could be because of lack of clarity on GST slabs or tax authorities may have become stricter this year.

In the first half of FY24, CRISIL Ratings credit ratio stood at 1.91 compared to 2.19 in the second half of last fiscal.

Start of the day: Dunzo at crisis, Netflix over clinch:

Dunzo’s board left some; Netflix appeals against tax order; and a new malaria shot for children.
 Dunzo is left with only three board members, after five members, including two executives of the startup’s largest investor Reliance Retail, resigned in recent months.

Netflix will appeal to the income tax appellate tribunal against an INR196 crore tax demand for alleged tax evasion.

The current case marked India’s first attempt to tax foreign-based digital companies providing e-commerce services to Indian consumers. 

The arrival of Jio Cinema, which offers a substantial portion of its content for free, including premium sports events such as IPL, has added to the pressure on platforms such as Netflix and Amazon, leading to declining Arpu.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has recommended a new vaccine for malaria prevention in children.

A release from WHO says the vaccine showed 66% efficacy during the 12-month period following the first three doses. A fourth dose a year after the third maintained the same efficacy.

28 countries are expected to launch the vaccine. At a price range of USD2 to USD4 per dose, WHO says the vaccine’s cost is comparable with other malaria interventions. GSK’s Mosquirix, the only other vaccine, costs around USD5 per dose.

HDFC Bank now world’s No. 6 by market cap:

HDFC Bank has delivered over 15% CAGR profits in the past decade. At the global stage, the stock’s returns reflect growth and macros. 

However, analysts say that to climb up on the global valuation ladder, the bank will have to consistently deliver on growth without compromising on asset quality. 

That’s easier said than done.
 HDFC Bank, has entered the elite club of large global banks, that includes Wells Fargo and HSBC. 

The bank rose to the rank following the merger with parent and mortgage lender HDFC, effective July 1. 

HDFC Bank has a market capitalisation of USD146 billion.

HDFC Bank may rise 8% annually to touch a market capitalisation of USD213 billion, assuming that global growth rate is subdued. 

HDFC Bank has fallen over 11%, compared to nearly 2% gains in Nifty 50 and 0.3% in ICICI Bank.

HDFC Bank may now be stacked up against banks in global portfolios, and not just for emerging-market portfolios, and compared with Indian banks.
 
at the global stage, stock returns reflereturns reflect growth and macros. On this point, HDFC Bank’s ascent in the top ranking comes at a very opportune time.

Stock Radar:Escorts Kubota stock soared 50%:

The stock rose from Rs 2,200 as of June 27 to Rs 3,320 recorded on 27 September, which translates into an upside of about 50% in the last 3 months. 

The momentum pushed the stock to hit a record high of Rs 3,344 on 30 August, but it failed to hold the momentum. The stock closed at Rs 3,324 on 27 September.

Escorts Kubota has a market capitalization of more than Rs 35,000 crore and trades at a P/E of 49.48x and an earnings per share (EPS) of Rs 67.18, BSE data showed.

The stock is on a runaway rally after it broke its December 2022 critical resistance of around Rs 2300 in July 2023 on the daily charts. 

The stock is trading well above most of the crucial short- and long-term moving averages such as 5,10,30,50,100 and 200-DMA list.

“With the entire auto space shifting gear, this is one outperformer and has recently come out of its consolidative range of the last three weeks,” Shivangi Sarda, Analyst, Derivatives and Technical Research, Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd, said.

“Traders can buy the stock for a target of Rs 3450 in the next 2-3 weeks and a stop loss can be placed below Rs 3232 on a closing basis,” she added.

Nuvama Wealth's growth potential upside high:

Nuvama Wealth’s growth potential is tied up with the overall growth in India’s wealth.

 As the country’s GDP increases, wealth management will be in huge demand. While the business has high potential, it is available at high valuations. But those keeping an eye on the per-capita GDP simply can’t ignore the sector.
 
Nuvama Wealth Management debuted on the BSE at INR2,699 apiece and settled the day 5% lower. Previously known as Edelweiss Securities, the company was renamed after private equity firm PAG bought a 56% stake in 2020 after it was announced that the company would be demerged and listed separately on the exchange.

The company’s total revenue stands at INR2,214 crore amid a net profit of INR305 crore in ended Mar31,2023.
 
Nuvama’s market cap stands at INR8,000 crore and is being traded at a price/book value of 5x.
The growth is now coming more from the tier-III or even smaller cities in India.

“Over the last five to six years, we have seen that more wealth is getting created in smaller cities. In fact, today much of our business is coming from these small cities. 

Our ratio of urban-to-non-urban business is now at 48:52 and I see this trend only improving,” says Ashish Kehair, managing director and CEO, Nuvama Wealth.

Motilal Oswal Financial Services said that the wealth management business in India is well poised to register a healthy CAGR of 12%-15% over the next five years and all segments — ultra-high net worth individuals, HNI, mass affluent, and retail — offer significant growth opportunities.
