4 mid & smallcap cement stocks with upside potential of up to 30%:

For the last nine years on the priority list of the government has been building physical infrastructure like roads, highways, ports and airports. Binding all the infrastructure projects, whether big or small are two commodities, cement and steel. In the cement sector, small and mid sized companies have been able to take advantage of this focus and increased spending by the government and have been able to both clean up their balance sheet and in some cases.

Cement has been a sector where most of the analysts have been caught off guards. The stocks have done well and a large number of analysts have been sticking to their stands that pricing and capacity utilization is an issue. What they probably ignored was the fact that any industry which has been facing headwinds for a long time tends to sort the issues and few players are able to make a comeback as consolidation takes place. Pretty much what we have seen in power. Due to government focus on infrastructure for the last nine years, a number of cement players have been able to improve their balance sheets and also become operationally efficient.

It is well known that besides giving policy push to the manufacturing sector as a whole, there is another priority list of the government, that is building physical infrastructure like highways, ports and airports. Binding all the infrastructure projects, whether big or small are two commodities, cement and steel along with the knowledge of engineering. While steel is a global commodity, prices are more determined by global moves. However in case of cement the prices are driven by domestic demand and supply dynamics and input costs matrix. In the last four months, the way companies were able to inch up their prices is clear indications that demand is stronger. Though a seasonal decline was expected in December, even that appears to have been better than expected.

5 largecap stocks with right mix of two important ratios:

There are some sectors where large players have an edge, because the nature of the business is such that there are phases where ability to stay in the game and cash on the balance sheet matter most. When the tide turns in favor of that sector, these large companies are able to make most of it. One sector which has gone through a phase of realignment of business and readjustment of valuations for many years and has once again come in limelight is the pharma space. 

In the case of IT India has a distinct and well known place. In the case of pharma, there are some segments in which Indian companies have been able to make a presence, but they do face competition from many other equally well established global pharma companies.

But still the Indian companies have an advantage due to skilled manpower at much lower cost which ensures that in the generic segment Indian companies have been to face headwinds and still show growth. So, when we look at large caps we look at pharma stocks which are slightly defensive in nature, with stable growth even if it means lower in absolute terms and the biggest reason continues growth in the overall global market.

Also we look at companies where the critical financial ratios are good enough when looked with an industry perspective. When it comes to financial ratios like ROE and ROCE two things need to be taken into consideration. Everything is dependent on the underlying business and every industry has a different normal range. In the case of pharma, their returns ratio has been some time impacted due sudden negative developments on the USFDA front.

The very next trading session there was a sharp correction in mid-cap index and the markets breadth turned negative. This follow up of correction in a short span is a clear indication that high valuations are a weight on the street mind. This means higher probability of a correction in mid-cap space if there is any trouble with Nifty. There are sectors where it is government spending which drives the demand. Most of these sectors will have lower net margins but have done well as the spending has remained high and will continue to do well as the policy regime continues. But there is a high probability that they are impacted by the rising interest rates so there is a mix of tail and headwinds.

Rewards equation is very different in these 45 public sector stocks:

If one looks at the last three months of the stock market moves, a new industrial house appears to be born and has caught the fancy of the street. Yes, we are talking about PSU as a set of companies. It is not owned by one individual but by the government of India so there is an element of the largest shareholder being one entity and that is why it may be called a new industrial house. 

Stocks which have been listed for years and till a year back were available at dividend yield of 6% and no one was ready to look at them. 
While this phase of PSU rally started with anything related to railways, in the last few sessions, every PSU stocks has been rallying. Given the fact that the institutional holding is not very high, any participation by either domestic or international investors can lead to a sharp spike. Normally, after this kind of spike comes into picture "money chases the momentum" part of any bull run. Probably, that is what has already started given that many telegram groups are full of recommendations of PSU stocks.

If one is looking to invest in a PSU after this run up, have the right expectations as their risks are very different as compared to private companies.

Another reason why expectations need a reset is that in the last six months, everyone has been looking for PSU stocks and when too many people are looking for something one needs to be watchful, as the possibility of weaker hands getting caught on the wrong foot are high

8 fertilizer stocks with 4 having "buy" reco and upside potential of up to 47%:

If one looks at how the policies have panned in the last nine years. It is clear that one by one every sector has been looked upon and if that sector has been getting government subsidies in any form, the government has tried to improve the delivery mechanism of that subsidy by plugging leakage in a manner that the right person gets the subsidy and the government gets the intended result. 

While it has been slower as compared to other sectors, even the fertilizer sector has been witnessing policy changes which have intended to plug loopholes and increase the operational efficiency of the companies. Given the policy measures, it would be worth bringing them to watchlist because if a re-rating which has taken place in some companies spreads to others then we could see a sharp move. 

Now let's look at what happened in the fertilizer industry. It started with urea getting coated with neem which was not a financial measure but had a financial impact. In the second phase, loopholes in the subsidy mechanism were taken care off, yes there were some issues with companies as the working capital cycle needed an overhaul. The end results, whatever growth is not coming because there is a subsidy which is finally going to come to their rescue but because of the fact operationally their performance has improved more particularly in terms of working capital improvement.

4 मिड और स्मॉलकैप सीमेंट शेयरों में 30% तक की बढ़त की संभावना:

सीमेंट एक ऐसा क्षेत्र रहा है जहां अधिकांश विश्लेषकों को गार्ड से पकड़ा गया है ।  शेयरों ने अच्छा प्रदर्शन किया है और बड़ी संख्या में विश्लेषक अपने स्टैंड से चिपके हुए हैं कि मूल्य निर्धारण और क्षमता उपयोग एक मुद्दा है. उन्होंने शायद इस तथ्य को नजरअंदाज कर दिया कि कोई भी उद्योग जो लंबे समय से हेडविंड का सामना कर रहा है, मुद्दों को हल करता है और कुछ खिलाड़ी वापसी करने में सक्षम होते हैं क्योंकि समेकन होता है ।  बहुत कुछ हमने सत्ता में देखा है ।  पिछले नौ वर्षों से बुनियादी ढांचे पर सरकार के ध्यान के कारण, कई सीमेंट खिलाड़ी अपनी बैलेंस शीट में सुधार करने में सक्षम हुए हैं और परिचालन रूप से कुशल भी बन गए हैं ।
